Players of the Week Announced for OCCAC Basketball

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – This week’s Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) Basketball Players of the Week for No. 13-19 are Armani Jackson (Lakeland) and Hadith Tiggs (Edison) for the Division-II ranks while Columbus State’s Antishay Rahim and Chris Byrd brought home the D-III honors.

ARMANI JACKSON
Lakeland Community College
Freshman guard

Armani Jackson picked up her second OCCAC Player of the Week honor in the last three weeks, also earning the distinction following the season’s opening week on Nov. 6. Lakeland remains unbeaten at 5-0 after a 109-43 blistering of Hocking College in this past week’s only contest. Jackson dropped in 25 points, hitting 12-of-16 field goal attempts. She paired that with a whopping 21 rebounds, including 15 on the offensive glass, to record her fourth double-double through five games of her collegiate career.

ANTISHAY RAHIM
Columbus State Community College
Sophomore forward

Antishay Rahim hauled in no less than a dozen rebounds in all three games during the last seven days, averaging 16 boards per game. She racked up a total of 19 in the Cougars conference victory over Hocking College. Rahim added in 13.3 points per game on 62-percent shooting (13-21) from the floor. She also tallied six steals, three blocks and two assists in earning her first career OCCAC Player of the Week award.

HADITH TIGGS
Edison Community College
Sophomore guard

Hadith Tiggs and the Chargers of Edison Community College improved to 6-0 by grabbing a pair of road victories, downing OSU-Lima and conference foe Clark State by scores of 83-76 and 106-64, respectively. This marks the second career OCCAC Player of the Week laurel for Tiggs, also claiming the accolade on Jan. 29, 2017. He converted on 14-of-20 field attempts (60%) to averaged 19.0 points/game to go along with 8.0 rebounds and a pair of steals.

CHRIS BYRD
Columbus State Community College
Sophomore guard

Chris Byrd accumulated 46 total points (23.0/game) in back-to-back triumphs for Columbus State, burying 9-of-17 from beyond the 3-point arc and 57-percent overall. He was also responsible for 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game as the Cougars improved to 6-1.
