Pleiman, Diamond Named OCCAC Volleyball Players of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Following an extremely loaded volleyball schedule around the OCCAC, the conference office announced Whitney Pleiman (D-II, Edison State) and Bobby Diamond (D-III, Columbus State) as the Volleyball Players of the Week on Tuesday (Sept. 4).

Pleiman becomes the second consecutive Charger to earn the OCCAC weekly honor to start the 2018 season after Noel Ufferman did so for the opening slate of matches. Edison State improved to 8-0 overall by notching five victories over the last seven days, dropping just two sets total. Pleiman was a defensive monster, picking up an average of 7.88 digs per set. She exploded for 40 digs in a four-set triumph at Kellogg and came back the next day for 34 more digs as the Chargers bested No. 15 Mott in four frames.

Diamond lifted the No. 4 Cougars to a 4-1 week with the lone defeat coming in five sets. She pounded 3.35 kills per set while attacking .495 for the week on 103 attempts. Diamond added in 1.18 blocks/set and seven aces for a 4.71 points/set clip. She recorded no less than eight kills and attacked .333 or better in all five tilts.
