Week 3's Top Players Picked by OCCAC

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Elizabeth Nicole Sicking and Edan Jones have been selected as the OCCAC Volleyball Players of the Week for Sept. 3-9, 2018. Sinclair’s Sicking brings home the D-II accolade while Jones of Columbus State becomes the second Cougar to corral D-III honors through three weeks this season.

Sinclair Community College
Sicking and the Sinclair Tartan Pride were busy the last seven days, competing in six matches and walking away with four victories which included a ‘W’ over preseason No. 15 Mott Community College. Sicking racked up over 100 kills (4.52/set) and nearly cracked the century mark with her 92 digs (4.00/set) as well. She also connected on 14 service aces.

Columbus State Community College
Jones posted 4.57 points and 4.43 digs per set in a pair of Cougar triumphs last week. She attacked .354 (24-7-48) and delivered five aces from the service stripe. In an OCCAC tilt vs. Sinclair, Jones was responsible for 13 digs, eight kills, four aces and a block as Columbus State registered a sweep. Teammate Bobby Diamond earned the OCCAC’s D-III weekly honor on Sept. 3.

*Furthermore, Jones was also selected as the NJCAA D-III National Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday, September 12.
