Owens, Lorain County Ready for National Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Two of 12 teams still competing for the NJCAA D-III Volleyball Championship represent the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) and Owens enters the final stage seeded No. 1 overall. Lorain County is in the top half as well, seeded sixth in the 12-team bracket set to begin Thursday, Nov. 8 in Rochester, Minn.  

Owens posted an unbeaten 16-0 conference record for its fourth consecutive league title and owns an overall mark of 37-6. The Commodores carry a 23-11 ledger into the national tournament.

Lorain County takes the court at 11 a.m. ET on Thursday and is guaranteed to play a second match later in the day win or lose. No. 11-seed Northampton (15-5) awaits the Commodores in the opening round.

As the top seed, Owens receives a first-round bye and is set to compete in a lone match Thursday at 5 p.m. ET. The Express face the 8/9-seed match-up winner between Queensborough (28-1) and SUNY Broome (27-6).
