Cuyahoga, Sinclair Advance to NJCAA D-II National Softball Championship Tournament

Not one, but two OCCAC Softball squads will be among the 16 programs contending for the 2019 NJCAA D-II national title next week in Clinton, Miss. Cuyahoga Community College laid claim to the District J crown while Sinclair Community College won the District I tourney to punch its ticket to the National Championship.

The Triceratops swept through Distict J with three consecutive wins, outscoring the competition by a combined score of 23-7. Cuayhoga opened by getting past Mott, 11-6, before back-to-back triumphs over Oakland (5-1, 7-0) to seal the deal.

The Tartan Pride started out by blanking Jackson College, 8-0, and defeating Lake Michigan by a final score of 9-3. Lake Michigan inacted revenge the next day, however, and forced a winner-take-all rubber match. Sinclair arose victorious in the third meeting in two days, securing a 3-2 win to take District I.
