Diamond, Sicking are Back in the Limelight

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Elizabeth Nicole Sicking (Sinclair) and Bobby Diamond (Columbus State) were named the OCCAC Volleyball Players of the Week on Tuesday (Sept. 3), both adding to their plentiful collection of conference weekly awards corralled as freshmen in 2018.

Sicking racked up 114 kills and 82 digs last week. She posted per set averages of 4.53 points, 3.93 kills, 2.83 digs, .41 blocks and .34 aces during a seven-match week for the Tartan Pride. Sicking tallied double-digit kills in all seven contests, including a 28-kill effort in Sinclair’s five-set win over Muskegon Community College. This marks her sixth career OCCAC Player of the Week recognition after snagging half of the 10 laurels presented in 2018.

Diamond and her Cougar teammates remain unbeaten in 2019, adding five marks in the win column last week and sitting at 6-0 overall. She attacked at a .386 pace during the last seven days to average 3.78 kills per set. Diamond added in 18 blocks (five solo) to boost her points/set clip to 4.42. She came up big in a five-set league win over Sinclair, blasting 22 kills at a .362 pace and sending back five blocks. Diamond is now a four-time recipient of this award, winning thrice in ’18.
