Four Student-Athletes Shine Bright on the Diamond

Lakeland Softball burst out of the gates at 4-0 during their opening week while Bryant & Stratton Baseball snared four wins as well in six games played. Ava Scott and Bailey Cravens of Lakeland earned the weekly softball accolades. Riley Day and Jagger Jefferis of Bryant & Stratton did the same for baseball.

RILEY DAY – baseball player of the week
Bryant & Stratton College (OH)
Day had a monster week for the Bobcats, blasting three homeruns and four doubles en route to a whopping 15 RBI. He batted .500 (11-22) for the week while slugging at a 1.091 clip. Add in a walk, and Day posted a 1.613 OPS. His biggest highlight came in Game 1 of a 4-game set with Mid Michigan College when he smacked a 3-run walk-off homerun (watch video).

JAGGER JEFFERIS – baseball pitcher of the week
Bryant & Stratton College (OH)
Jefferis sat down batters left and right in two appearances spanning five innings. The Bobcat struck out 13 of 17 batters faced, including 11 Ks in a 4-inning complete game vs. Mid Michigan College. Jefferis offered up just one hit and one walk during his five frames of shutout work.

AVA SCOTT – softball player of the week
Lakeland Community College
Scott tore it up in the batters box with a 1.706 OPS after going 11-for-16 (.688) with a double, two triples and eight RBI in four games. She opened the season by cracking four hits, including a triple, in both games versus Clark State. Scott drove in at least one run in all four contests and scored a total of eight runs herself for the week.

BAILEY CRAVENS – softball pitcher of the week

Cravens tossed a pair of complete games totaling 12 innings, earning the win in both starting gigs. She allowed two earned runs (five total) in the dozen frames pitched. Cravens scattered 10 hits and five walks while fanning 11 batters.
