Ruffin & Settles Pick Up Weekly Distinction

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – A pair of six-rotation freshman outside hitters earned OCCAC Volleyball Player of the Week recognition for Sept. 9-15 when Annayia Ruffin (Cuyahoga) and Tyriana Settles (Owens) were announced as the D-II and D-III recipients, respectively, on Monday (Sept. 16). Settles picks up her second weekly accolade of the young season.

Cuyahoga Community College | D-II
Ruffin blasted 40 kills (5.71/set) in a pair of matches while attacking .330 (40-10-91). She contributed defensively as well by averaging 2.00 digs per set and getting up for a block assist. Ruffin shined in the Triceratops four-set league win over Clark State, registering a 26-kill, 11-dig double-double.

TYRIANA SETTLES
Owens Community College | D-III
Settles did it all during a 4-0 week for the Express which included a sweep over No. 3 Columbus State. She posted per set averages of 4.92 digs, 4.58 kills, .50 blocks and .25 aces as Owens won all 12 sets played. Settles swung .380 or better in three of four matches and hit .297 (45-15-101) for the week. She put forth double-double efforts in three of four contests as well. Settles was directly responsible for no less than 14 points in all four victories.
