Softball Weekly Awards ‘20 Debut, More Baseball Honorees

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Alyssa Theodor (Edison State) and Cassidy King (Sinclair) are the first OCCAC Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week award winners of the 2020 season. Fellow member of the Tartan Pride, Gage Voorhees, picked up Pitcher of the Week recognition for baseball while Owens’ Jarrett Batanian is the OCCAC Baseball Player of the Week.

JARRETT BATANIAN
Owens Community College | Baseball Player of the Week
Batanian smacked a homerun in back-to-back games against former OCCAC member Eastern Gateway. He was directly responsible for seven runs, driving in four and scoring three. Batanian registered a pair of hits in both contests.

ALYSSA THEODOR
Edison State Community College | Softball Player of the Week
Theodor went 4-for-5 at the dish and drew two walks, good for an on-base percentage of .857 during two wins for the Chargers. She drove in three runs and scored two more personally. Theodor was effective in both wins, recording two hits, a run, at least one RBI and a walk in each. She was also stellar in the field, putting forth an error-free showing as the Edison State shortstop.

Sinclair Community College | Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Voorhees snags his second league honor in the season’s first three weeks. This time around, Voorhees tossed seven scoreless innings to earn the win over McHenry County College. He scattered three hits and three walks while striking out four batters.

CASSIDY KING
Sinclair Community College | Softball Pitcher of the Week
King was workhorse during a 10-game week for the Tartan Pride. She made eight appearances in total, seven in relief before starting the 10th game. King chewed up 22 innings, going 2-0 with a save. She nearly averaged a strikeout per inning, registering 21 K’s. Only four earned runs (six total) came across during her 22 innings.
