18th and Final Edition of Weekly League Honors Released for 2019-20 Basketball Season

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Five OCCAC student-athletes have been selected as the Basketball Players of the Week for Feb. 24-March 1, the final honoree group of the 2019-20 season.

ALLISON SIEFRING
Edison State Community College | D-II Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Fittingly, Allison Siefring puts a bow on her dominant campaign for the Chargers by capturing a conference-best sixth player of the week accolade. She poured in 21 points and corralled 14 rebounds, 10 of which came on the offensive glass. Siefring added on five steals and four assists while committing zero turnovers in 32 minutes played as Edison State topped Lakeland 91-73 to earn a share of the OCCAC regular season title.

TYREK BATTLE-HOLLEY
Cuyahoga Community College | (co) D-II Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Tyrek Battle-Holley and the Triceratops are entering postseason play surrounded by fire emojis, riding a 10-game winning streak. The latest ‘W’ came on the road at Clark State when Johnson converted on 7-of-8 field goals, including 2-of-3 from long range, and 7-of-9 at the foul line for a total of 23 points. He also assisted on eight more Cuyahoga buckets while posting seven rebounds and a pair of steals.

TYREKE JOHNSON
Lakeland Community College | (co) D-II Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Sole possession of the OCCAC men’s basketball regular season crown was captured by the Lakers via a 100-78 road win at Edison State in which Tyreke Johnson stuffed the stat sheet with 28 points, seven assists, six rebounds and four steals. Johnson knocked down eight shots from the floor and got to the foul line 12 times, sinking 11 foul shots.

Columbus State Community College | D-III Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Anjalee Key was phenomenal in the Cougars season finale at Rocky Valley College. She registered 19 points, seven rebounds (five offensive), three steals, two blocks and an assist in 37 minutes of action.

ELIJAH BISHOP
Columbus State Community College | D-III Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Elijah Bishop has reached NBA Jam ‘he’s on fire’ levels of production over the last month. This represents his fourth consecutive OCCAC player of the week laurel and fifth of the season. Bishop buried 11-of-14 field goals and 7-of-10 foul shots for 30 points in lifting the Cougars to an 83-75 win over Rock Valley College which punched their ticket to the NJCA D-III National Championship tournament. He crashed the boards to the tune of 14 rebounds as well, to go along with three assists and three steals.
