Columbus State, Edison State Sweep OCCAC Weekly Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Columbus State Basketball duo of Melia Walder and Elijah Bishop earned OCCAC D-III Player of the Week accolades for games played Feb. 10-16 while Maddy Bakosh and Ronnie Hampton III of Edison State Community College are the D-II recipients.

MADDY BAKOSH
Edison State Community College | D-II Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Bakosh picks up her first career honor after doing a little bit of everything in a pair of wins for the Chargers. She accumulated per game averages of 16.5 points, 9.0 assists, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.0 blocks while committing just five turnovers in 60 minutes played. Bakosh was effective from long range, dropping in 8-of-16 three-point attempts.

RONNIE HAMPTON III
Edison State Community College | D-II Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Hampton did not leave the court in two Charger victories, playing all 80 minutes. He tallied per game averages of 26.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.0 steals. Hampton converted on 24-of-37 (54%) field goal attempts and got to the foul line to make 11 free throws. This marks the third consecutive month Hampton has been selected as OCCAC Player of the Week.

MELIA WALDER
Columbus State Community College | D-III Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Walder averaged a double-double (16.5 points, 12.0 rebounds) en route to her second weekly award this season and third of her career. She opened the week with 14 points and 10 boards at Edison State before coming back with 19 points and 14 boards against Owens.

ELIJAH BISHOP
Columbus State Community College | D-III Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Bishop registered back-to-back double-doubles this week to make it back-to-back OCCAC Player of the Week recognitions. He accumulated 12 points and 10 rebounds at Edison State and came back with 21 points, 15 rebounds versus Owens. Bishop hit half of his shots, sinking 14-of-28 field goal attempts.
