Columbus State, Edison State Sweep Weekly OCCAC Awards

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Columbus State and Edison State won their lone contests on both the men’s and women’s sides during Thanksgiving week, leading to OCCAC Player of the Week representation for all four programs. Cougars Mickale Bates and N’Keeley Elmore are the D-III recipients while Sarah Pothast and Ronald Hampton of Edison State picked up D-II honors.

Edison State Community College | D-II Women’s Player of the Week
Pothast is a familiar name in this space, now owning four career weekly conference accolades (three for basketball and one for volleyball). She registered a 19-point, 13-rebound double-double in a 71-35 victory over Cedarville University JV this past week. Pothast also swatted a half dozen blocks in 25 minutes of play. She converted on 9-of-16 (56%) field goal attempts.

MICKALE BATES
Columbus State Community College | D-III Women’s Player of the Week
Bates dropped in 18 points for the Cougars in a 75-53 league road win at Sinclair. She knocked down five shots from the floor and got to the foul line often, hitting 8-of-11 freebies. Bates added a rebound and steal to her stat line while committing zero turnovers in 25 minutes.

RONALD HAMPTON
Edison State Community College | D-II Men’s Player of the Week
Hampton posted a double-double versus Cedarville University JV, putting up 18 points and 10 rebounds (five offensive). He shot 75% (9-12) from the floor and added four steals, two assists with zero turnovers in 28 minutes.

N’KEELEY ELMORE
Columbus State Community College | D-III Men’s Player of the Week
Elmore came up just two rebounds shy of a triple-double after totaling 19 points, 10 assists and eight boards in a 105-78 triumph at Sinclair. He was 8-of-11 (73%) from the floor and 3-of-5 (60%) from beyond the arc.
