Brown, Ruffin Stick Out Above the Rest

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – October represents the final month of OCCAC Volleyball’s regular season. Annayia Ruffin (Cuyahoga) and Rebecca Brown (Owens) started it off with a bang, each snagging OCCAC Player of the Week honors.

Ruffin is now a two-time winner after earning the award earlier this season on Sept. 16. She lifted the Triceratops to a 3-0 mark in the past week, shining both offensively and defensively. On the attack, Ruffin swung just under .300 (68-20-161) in averaging 5.67 kills per set and contributing more than six points/set. She got it done on the defensive side as well, digging 3.67 balls/set and getting in on five block assists. All three Cuyahoga victories came against OCCAC foes.

Owens Community College | D-III
Brown ran the Express offense to the tune of 11.82 assists per set. Owens triumphed in four of five contests as Brown dished out no less than 33 assists in any match. When taking care of business herself, the setter attacked .458 with 13 kills on 24 attempts and only two errors. She sniped the opposition for five service aces while registering 13 digs and eight blocks defensively.
