Chelsey Farris (Lorain County) and Ava Sholtis (Owens) both concluded their regular season by earning OCCAC co-Player of the Week honors for Oct. 17-23. Farris shined en route to her fourth award of the year, and Sholtis picked up award #2 after pushing The Express to their 18th OCCAC championship since 2000 with a 4-0 final week.

Farris went on a point-producing tear, good for 64.5 points in a dozen sets played (5.4/set). She tallied 52 of those points via the kill, attacking at .383 rate. The sophomore middle blocker added 15 blocks (six solo) and two aces. She garnered no less than 13 kills in all three contests. Farris opened the season as the league’s player of the week back on August 22 and bookmarks it with this latest accolade, the last of the season.

Sholtis proved pivotal in Owens’s four wins, three of which came on the road, to seal the OCCAC title. She registered 51.5 points (3.7/set) on 44 kills, six blocks (one solo) and four aces while limiting the opposition with 4.1 digs per set. Sholtis stepped it up big time in a crucial five-set triumph at second place Lorain County, boasting 17 kills and 19 digs. Her previous weekly laurel came on Sept. 26.
