Four Stand Out Above the Rest to Earn Weekly Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Player of the week nominations flooded in to the OCCAC office for the week of Jan. 20-26 and four individuals emerged from the large pool of quality candidates. Four different institutions are represented as Brandon Hardin (Clark State), Donovan Saine (Hocking College), Allison Siefring (Edison State) and Mickale Bates (Columbus State) earned the OCCAC accolades.

The female recipients have both been here before with Siefring owning four weekly awards and Bates sitting at three. Hardin and Saine both pick up their first distinction.

ALLISON SIEFRING
Edison State Community College | D-II Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Siefring averaged a double-double by posting a total of 40 points and 24 rebounds in a pair of league wins for the Chargers. She was very efficient offensively, hitting 15-of-21 (74%) field goal attempts, including all three shots from beyond the arc. Siefring added five steals to her impressive stat line.

BRANDON HARDIN
Clark State Community College | D-II Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Hardin compiled per game averages of 22.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.5 steals in lifting the Eagles to wins over Sinclair and Bryant & Stratton (OH). He converted on 13-of-23 (57%) shots, including 4-for-7 from deep. Hardin consistently got to the foul line and excelled once there by knocking down 14-of-17 (82%).

MICKALE BATES
Columbus State Community College | D-III Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Bates was a scoring machine, stuffing 56 points through the rim in two games. Her 28.0 points per game average were accompanied by 6.5 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals. She was a lone rebound shy of registering a triple-double in a 98-76 victory over Bryant & Stratton (OH) with 26 points, 10 assists and nine boards.

DONOVAN SAINE
Hocking College | D-III Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Saine was a busy man logging over 100 minutes as the Hawks hit the court four times. Saine’s efforts helped Hocking College snag three wins out of conference. He accumulated 31 made shots at a 62% rate, including five 3-pointers (5-of-9). Saine was also responsible for 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
