Edison State, Hocking Retain Player of the Week Status

For the second consecutive week Edison State Women’s Basketball and Hocking Men’s Basketball are represented in the OCCAC Player of the Week awards. Whitney Staggs and Trevell Adams both helped improve their respective program’s season record to 17-0 overall and 4-0 in league play—resulting in another individual weekly honor. It marks Staggs second of 2021-22 and fourth of her career while Adams, a freshman, now owns three such accolades this season.

Hocking College
Adams filled it up to the tune of 57 total points in a pair of OCCAC victories over Edison State and Lorain County. He knocked down 21 field goals at a 47% (21-45) rate, and converted 13-of-16 (81%) foul shots. Adams did more than just score though, also putting forth 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 assists per game.

WHITNEY STAGGS
Edison State Community College
Staggs was good for 23.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game during triumphs over Hocking and Bryant & Stratton (OH). She hit 20-of-41 (49%) from the floor, including 2-of-5 (40%) from beyond the arc. Staggs opened the week with a 25-point, 10-rebound double-double versus the Hawks before coming back with 21 points and three boards at Bryant & Stratton. She dished out five assists in both contests.
