OCCAC Recognizes Standout Performances

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Three hoopers were honored as the OCCAC Basketball Players of the Week for Jan. 13-19). Two come from Edison State in Audra Schaub and Reko Bagley, Jr., as the D-II winners while Nia Johnson brings D-III accolades back to Columbus State.

Edison State Community College | D-II Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Schaub lifted the Chargers to a 3-0 week en route to her third weekly honor of the season. She averaged 17.3 points, 3.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game while committing a total of just three turnovers in 91 minutes played. Two wins came against OCCAC foes, including a line of 15 points, seven boards, seven assists and five steals versus Cuyahoga. Schaub was accurate from long range, knocking down 12-of-28 (43%) 3-pointers.

REIKO BAGLEY, JR.
Edison State Community College | D-II Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Bagley scored 64 points during three straight wins for Edison State. In addition to the 21.3 points per game average, he also posted per-game rates of 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists. Bagley got hot from deep, converting on half of his 22 3-point attempts. He earned numerous trips to the charity strip as well, hitting 17-of-20 (85%) foul shots.

NIA JOHNSON
Columbus State Community College | D-III Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Johnson returns to the award-winning group after opening the season as the OCCAC player of the week. She stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, six rebounds, an assist and steal in the Cougars’ lone contest this week, an 83-70 conference victory over Sinclair. Johnson compiled a dozen points from beyond the arc, making 4-of-8 (50%) 3-point shots.
