Stat Stuffers Pick Up Weekly Awards

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Alicia Sephus (Lakeland) and Sean McNeil (Sinclair) stood out above all the rest from Feb. 18-24 and their efforts were recognized by the conference office on Feb. 25, announced as the OCCAC Basketball Players of the Week.

ALICIA SEPHUS
Lakeland Community College | D-II Women
Sephus averaged a double-double across three games, putting forth 18.0 points and 11.0 rebounds as the Lakers snagged two wins. She also swiped 4.0 steals and dished out 2.0 assists per game while committing just three turnovers in 73 minutes of play. Her high per-game stat averages came in quick fashion, logging less than 25 minutes/game. Sephus knocked down 23-of-47 (49%) field goal attempts, including 4-of-9 from 3-point range.

This represents her first career weekly honor and the third different Lakeland rep to earn this honor in 2018-19 (Selah Richardson on Dec. 17, Delesha Jackson on Jan. 28).

SEAN MCNEIL
Sinclair Community College | D-II Men
McNeil defended his standing as the OCCAC’s most lethal scorer, dropping in 97 points during three games to raise his season scoring average to an even 30.0 points per game. As if his 32.3 points/game last week wasn’t enough to earn the OCCAC distinction, McNeil added 7.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals averages. He buried 62% (35-52)  of his shots overall and 57% (13-23) on 3-point attempts. McNeil made double-digit field goals in all three contests and hit at least three from long range in each. When working his way to the charity stripe, he converted on 20-of-21 (95%) foul shots.

McNeil now owns a league-best seven player of the week accolades in 2018-19.
