SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Three student-athletes have been selected as Basketball Players of the Week for Nov. 26-Dec. 2 by the OCCAC conference office. Danyah Barnes (Clark State), Marquita Thompson (Lorain County) and John Dawson (Lakeland) are the honorees. All three are first-time recipients.

DANYAH BARNES
Clark State Community College | D-II Women
Barnes scored 23 points in both contests for the Eagles last week, shooting 63% (19-30) from the floor. She added 8.0 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game to her impressive stat line. Barnes came up just a lone rebound shy of a triple-double in Clark State’s 80-51 win over Hocking College by posting 23 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds.

JOHN DAWSON
Lakeland Community College | D-II Men
Dawson averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game during a 2-1 week for the Lakers. His top performance came in a tightly-contested road win at St. Clair County when he knocked down 12-of-19 shots, including 6-of-8 from long range, to notch 32 points. Dawson was efficient in an 84-83 victory vs. Mid Michigan College as well, converting on 7-of-13 shots for 16 points. He was secure with the ball, too, committing just five turnovers in over 100 minutes played.

MARQUITA THOMPSON
Lorain County Community College | D-III Women
Thompson did a little bit of everything in a 2-1 week for the Commodores. She scored 17.0 points per game while also contributing 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists. Thompson’s shooting effort results in a 59% (19-32) field goal rate and 6-of-10 from beyond the arc. She hauled in eight rebounds to go along with 23 points during Lorain County’s road conference triumph over Clark State.
