OCCAC Recognizes Top Hoopin' Efforts of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Sean McNeil (Sinclair) and Lacey Watson (Edison State) split the conference voting committee for the second straight week and will be named co-OCCAC D-II Men’s Basketball Players of the Week while Lakeland’s Selah Richardson earned the women’s honor unanimously.

Richardson averaged 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.0 assists in a pair of games for the Lakers. She posted 21 points on 10-of-13 shooting to go along with five steals, four boards (three offensive), two assists and a block in Lakeland’s 84-67 win over Genessee Community College. Richardson becomes the first Laker to be named OCCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week since Armani Jackson on March 5, 2018.

McNeil continued his standing as one of the nation’s elite scorers, shoving 33 more points through the hoop in Sinclair’s 107-76 road win at Jamestown Community College. He knocked down 12-of-18 field goal attempts, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc, and hit 4-of-5 foul shots. McNeil added in a half dozen rebounds, two assists, a steal and block in 36 minutes of action. He now owns four weekly conference honors this season.

Watson reeled in 32 points and 18 rebounds as the Chargers raced past Wilmington College’s JV squad, 92-58. He dropped in 14-of-21 shots from the floor, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range. Watson crashed the offensive glass to the tune of six offensive boards complimenting his 12 boards defensively. He produced three assists and two blocks as well while committing a lone turnover in 31 minutes.
