SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Four OCCAC student-athletes were awarded for their outstanding efforts on the hardwood this past week, each earning D-II Co-Player of the Week (basketball) accolades. Clair Schmitmeyer (Edison State) and Amanda Schroeder (Sinclair) were the female winners while Sean McNeil (Sinclair) and Lacey Watson (Edison State) brought it home as the men’s recipients.
CLAIR SCHMITMEYER
Edison State Community College | D-II Women (co)
Schmitmeyer stuffed the stat sheet with 13.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.5 steals per game during a pair of victories for the Chargers. She posted back-to-back double-doubles with 13 points, 13 rebounds against Cedarville University and ‘14 & 14’ at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base. This marks her second conference player of the week recognition of 2018.
AMANDA SCHROEDER
Sinclair Community College | D-II Women (co)
Schroeder corrals her seventh career OCCAC Player of the Week distinction and second this season. She poured in 32.0 points per game while shooting 50% (22-44) from the floor, 7-of-10 from deep and 13-of-15 at the charity stripe in two wins for the Tartan Pride. Schroeder added 11.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks.
SEAN MCNEIL
Sinclair Community College | D-II Men (co)
Like his Sinclair counterpart above, McNeil is a multi-time winner as well. This represents his third honor through the season’s first six weeks. He averaged a whopping 41.0 points per game last week, dropping in a total 13 three-pointers in the process. McNeil tacked on 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 assists per game.
LACEY WATSON
Edison State Community College | D-II Men (co)
Watson was ultra-efficient in two games for the Chargers, converting on 62% (23-37) of his field goal attempts and hitting 15-of-18 foul shots. He averaged a double-double for the week, putting forth 32.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Watson was effective defensively, too, swiping eight steals and blocking two shots.
