SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The OCCAC has selected three student-athletes to receive Basketball Player of the Week laurels after a Thanksgiving week with limited on-court action. Sinclair’s Tre’maine Gray and Thomas Hronis of Lorain County were awarded the men’s D-II and D-III accolades while Clair Schmitmeyer (Edison State) is the women’s D-II recipient this week.

CLAIR SCHMITMEYER
Edison State Community College | D-II Women
Schmitmeyer stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, 11 rebounds, four steals and three assists in just 25 minutes played during a lopsided road victory at Miami University-Hamilton for the 6-1 Chargers. She crashed the offensive glass, hauling in seven offensive boards. Schmitmeyer converted on 7-of-16 field goal attempts (44%) and committed a lone turnover. This marks her second career conference weekly honor (also on Jan. 8, 2018).

TRE’MAINE GRAY
Sinclair Community College | D-II Men
Gray kept the weekly crown in Dayton, following up Sean McNeil’s back-to-back wins for three straight by Sinclair. Gray was ultra-efficient in a pair of wins last week, burying 14-of-16 (88%) field goal attempts, including 4-for-4 from long range. He also connected on 9-of-10 foul shots for an average of 20.5 points per game. Gray was active on the defensive end as well, swiping 4.5 steals/game and blocking two shots. He capped his stat line with a half dozen assists and four rebounds in a total of 53 minutes played.

THOMAS HRONIS
Lorain County Community College | D-III Men
Similar to Schmitmeyer, Hronis inflicted max damage in a limited amount of action. Hronis logged only 18 minutes in a 134-47 thrashing of Westmoreland County and racked up 22 points, three steals, two assists, a block and rebound in the short timeframe. He shot 7-of-10 from the floor, including 6-of-9 long balls.
