Week 13 Players of the Week Announced

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Three student-athletes received OCCAC Basketball Player of the Week distinction on Monday (Jan. 28). Delesha Jackson (Lakeland) and Whitney Thames (Owens) are the female honorees while Tre’maine Gray of Sinclair snagged the D-II men’s accolade.

DELESHA JACKSON
Lakeland Community College | D-II Women
Jackson converted on 22-of-31 (71%) field goal attempts and hit 11-of-14 foul shots to average 18.5 points per game. She also hauled in 8.5 rebounds during two contests for the Lakers. Jackson recorded eight steals and four assists as well.

This marks Lakeland’s second recognition of 2018-19 following Selah Richardson’s selection on Dec. 17.

WHITNEY THAMES
Owens Community College | D-III Women
Thames averaged a double-double (13.0 points, 10.3 rebounds/game) as The Express went 3-0 last week. She added 2.3 steals, 2.0 assists and 1.3 blocks per game as well, doing a bit of everything for No. 8 Owens. Thames logged 110 minutes on the court and committed just four turnovers during the extended playing stint.

Two teammates have also picked up the laurel this season – Taylor Works (Nov. 5) and Shyah Wheeler (Nov. 19).

TRE’MAINE GRAY
Sinclair Community College | D-II Men
Gray is the conference player of the week for the second time, earning his first award back on Nov. 26. This time around he averaged 22.5 points, 7.5 assists, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. Gray shot 52% (14-27) from the floor, including 7-of-16 (44%) from beyond the arc. He was nearly flawless at the charity stripe, converting on 10-of-11 foul shots.
