Justin McCulla, Edison State Community College’s Athletics Director and Assistant Commissioner for the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC), has been named the 2024-25 Michael Rickard OCCAC Athletics Director of the Year.
“I’m truly honored to be named the OCCAC Athletics Director of the Year,” McCulla said. “This recognition is a reflection of the incredible coaches, student-athletes and staff I have the privilege to work alongside every day.”
The Chargers brought home conference titles in both women’s basketball and softball this past season. Sixteen different Edison State student-athletes earned All-OCCAC honors, including a clean sweep of the annual awards for softball.
“It has been a pleasure to work with many outstanding leaders in the conference over the years. I look forward to continuing our shared efforts to improve the student-athlete experience.”
McCulla has long been known for his selflessness in consistently working for the betterment of the conference in several roles beyond the school’s athletics director. His commitment to sportsmanship extends to the Edison State programs, and their coaches and student-athletes.
McCulla becomes the fourth AD in school history to receive this award. Previous Charger recipients include: Nate Cole (2019-20), Chip Hare (2006-07) and Larry Leffel (1993-94).
